    Biomimicry Design Challenge

Design thinking is an integral component of many innovative fields of work and research and is a core component of our progression of intelligence and innovation. Design lies all around us, often unbeknown to most of us. What most of us don't see is the process-driven thought and observation that goes into designing even the smallest item.

This module blends the field of design with the wonderful and wide world of nature and more specifically, biomimicry, to bring a design-centred project that challenges learners to observe and extract inspiration from natural patterns and processes to be moulded into innovative ideas.

This module is more relevant than ever to the learners wanting to make effective differences in the way we live our lives.

    Changing Climates – Grades 9-10

Lessons will explore the cause and effect of climate change, focusing on the effects of particular human activities on the environment.
Students will explore the impacts of climate change on human and non-human communities, developing critical thinking and building empathy whilst engaging in individual and collective actions to inspire positive change and move from anxiety to empowerment

    Powerful Public Spaces

Public Spaces are vital and often overlooked aspects of our society. They serve huge functions for many various people, organisations and organisms. Creating safe and inclusive spaces that cater to all the stakeholders' needs is no easy task.

This broad module deals with Urban Design and challenges the participants to redesign spaces around them to become more inclusive, safer or greener.

    School Air Audit

This module involves active research and development from its participants as they are responsible for conducting an air audit on their school. Through this activity, learners will be exposed to a variety of factors relating to air quality and its impact on our health.

The module ends with the solution-ideas being pitched to school management - a catalyst for learner-centered solutions.

    School Energy Audit

In this module, students explore green energy in their school and discuss the benefits of a campus energy audit. Students investigate how energy is used around the school and document energy-intensive appliances. Students, need to compile, gather and align their data in a useful format to help them analyze the data efficiently. After analyzing, they reflect on its importance and begin considering ideas for improving energy usage on campus.

    School Food Audit

In this module, students explore and analyze ways to improve school food systems. Students are put to the test when gathering and compiling data and have to present findings to the class and get their audit evaluated by peers and teachers. Students then practice their communication skills by presenting their data in interesting, relevant, and visually appealing ways.

    School Waste Audit

As part of the Eco-audit packages, this module actively involves the learners in school life by challenging them with a school waste audit, a relevant and applicable project that engages your learners in many subjects and topics.
This module will bring relevancy and application to your school environment whilst making the learners an active component of the process.
By the end of this module, your learner swill be able to give well-thought out and researched recommendations to school management regarding the manner in which waste is management on campus.
